Butterfly Meadow

Fluttering through the green meadow
Are the colorful butterflies
Surrounding the loss of youth
They try to animate what is lost
Yet life they cannot give
For they are merely butterflies
In a meadow
They cannot turn back time
To stop the assault on youth
Prohibit the intruder’s body
From stealing her youth
Nor can they prohibit
The breathless last gasps
Her lungs tried to take
For they are merely
Butterflies in a meadow
Circling the body of a lost girl
