Letting Go

It feels like a sharp knife in your heart
A blade being twisted quickly
And pushed deeper inside you body
Then pulled out slowly; it's torture
To know that someone you love
Is dying and you can't help them
Especially when you are close
It's hard to let go
And when it's quick,
and you don't get to say goodbye,
I can tell you
A part of you dies.
So the pain of a soul splitting in half
Keeps you from moving on.
And you dwell in the past
In your mind,you can't even begin
to imagine how much they hate you
and in your mind, you think they do,
though it's doubtful they do.
They still love you.
But you still feel responsible
And the pain never lets go.

Wow, such a sad poem, but a powerful one at that. Losing someone you love is very painful, I know this pain first-hand. With time, the pain will subsided and the scars will heal, but you can never, ever, forget that person.
And from what I see here, you never will forget them.
