Post Mortem

Post Mortem

Lying on the cold ground, naked
In the darkness of my own despair
For I love a woman out of reach
A love so strong, too much to bare

My heart beating just for you
Pumping poison through my veins
Like acid burning my mind
Only the thought of you remains

Like a rose growing in my heart
Full of longing and desire
Drenched in loving thoughts
Setting my feelings on fire

Its roots gripping my thoughts so tight
Slowly infesting all of my mind
Squeezing my brain with thorns so sharp
Cutting my eyes, making me blind

Blood oozing out of my eyes
Mixing with the tears I’ve shed
Lying helplessly in the dark
My vision blurred with red

Roots gliding along my bones
Thorns stretching my skin
Wrapping my lungs in its grip
Puncturing as I breath in

Inexorable growing in me
Ripping my rib cage apart
Now standing alone in the dark
Is the rose, shadow of my heart

Turning from red to black
Withering, petals falling off
Dropping in a pool of blood
Swimming in my love

Leaving my empty body behind
Motionless, cold, sickly white
I see her standing next to me
A blurred shape in the light

Growing fainter, almost gone
Roots gripping tighter and tighter
Ripping everything apart
The light shining brighter and brighter

Swallowing her and all my thoughts
My soul growing numb, though hurting still
My heart rotting within my shell
All empty, decayed, no more blood to spill

An empty stare, looking up in the sky
A heart left only to rive
Over and over again, tears streaming,
Dropping on the ground, for I am still alive!

wow.......very emo.
lol not but seriously, this is a very good poem. I would check the pace of some of the lines, because for me, bits of it don't scan.

Check out some of my work sometime!
