Today in the News

Contributed by BobbyZimmerman on Saturday, 4th November 2006 @ 10:54:49 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Today in the news....
A baby has died,
Thrown in a dumpster,
His newborn neck tied.

Today in the news....
An old was shot,
Gang intiation,
Suspect not caught.

Today in the news....
Homeless rates rise,
Expect to fall,
Neath winter's cold skies.

Today in the news....
A young girl was raped,
Sodomized and assaulted,
The suspect escaped.

We as a nation,
Not at all surprised,
Pay no attention,
We're desensitized.

Today in the news...
Gas prices soar....
"Enough is enough!
I'll stand for no more!"

It's horrible that most have come to be this way. Things with such little value compared to someone's life being taken - it's far from a contest to see which is more important. But with how much bad there is in the world, everyone's just adapted and has accepted the fact it happens, that there's too much bad out there for anyone to stop it, so they push it aside and pretend it's not there. The only way it'll stop is if people stop acting like it's something that should be happening. It shouldn't expected, it should be stopped.

I think your poem gives a real outlook on the way our society is these days. A very honest and raw write. I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you for posting it.

-Cassy
