The Country Doctor

Contributed by pooper on Friday, 3rd November 2006 @ 08:11:22 AM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

The country doctor where went he ,
and when his like will we ever see?
Never, .......for his time has past.
Such times as those just couldn't last

His dedication, his selfless deed,
following his physician's creed.
Lonely rides o'er unlit path.
Old horse straining against winters wrath.
Braving shifting drifts of snow,
even whil'st bitter wind doth blow.

Daring springs deep slippery ruts
to reach the sicks poor country huts.
Seeing patients one by one,
dawn till dusk till day is done.
This child born, that with a fever,
no matter in town or cross the river.
Gentle hands may save that child,
sweating under blankets piled
to ward off chills till shivers cease.
A potion given to bring on peace.
The likes of 'Doc" we will never find
The country Doctor was one of a kind.

Had to comment again as I shared it with a friend who would like to express her own appreciation for the warm fuzzy gifted her in reading this.
