The Lover

Contributed by one-curly-fry on Thursday, 2nd November 2006 @ 05:31:07 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Love
the word stained on my heart
that forever makes me wake
- hoping for your sleeping face
the emotion that gives me the pen
- makes me the writer
a funny little thing in me
- to cry at that movie

Yes love infects me
makes me so powerful
yet the gentleman
just to hold you

The innocent lover
the passionate love
honestly
like a new open book

Yes love makes me
- a million men
something new, yet the best present
- I could give to you

I’m the wild boy
who’d take you the world over
who’d wear that suit
- for the wine and dine

Hell, love has me taken
made me a tragic wreck
it’s built me up a thousand times
left me silly and full of life

A guy to make you giggle
love you first thing in the morning
made hopeless by your touch
endless fuelled by your heart

Love
the word stained on my heart
the drug that leaves me floating
the god I’d die for
the foundation to my everything
I’m the writer completely free
yes, I am a lover!
A lover you’ll never know.

My initial inclination was to suggest that it wasn't the latte that spawned this... though, I was almost wondering whether I should say as much after getting to the concluding lines of this piece - but still, I think, it seems right to do so. Like the many examples that you've offered of the way in which love can affect a person... this, I'd say, is yet another.

"the foundation to my everything" left me smiling. : )

Nice work -

~Snemmy

That is so cool! You are like the only guy i have ever heard admit that love is good. its not about the sex, its about love!
"Hell, love has me taken
made me a tragic wreck
it’s built me up a thousand times
left me silly and full of life"
hehe this is how i feel around the guy i like...just being around him is enough to make me happy for a long time...and then when he is with her....i'm a "tragic wreck" as you put it...
i love this poem! one of the best of yours ive read!

No girl will ever have me. I won't allow it any more...
I know me very well now and I won't be abused again.... bad luck to the female of our species.... one of them could've had true love. Two had their chance, but there's no more... I cannot handle it...
