Inner Terrain

Topic: DreamsandWishes

Shrugging, I clearly remember grabbing my canteen and filling it with water and taking off for the desert. Somehow the desert was close to where I was but that contradicted where I knew myself to be. I didn’t question the contradiction enough so I kept walking and it seemed like I walked for hours. Until I tripped and fell in a familiar way and when I looked up I saw what appeared to be a slanted cut of petrified wood, hard as stone, with odd markings on the slant. I tried to focus on them clearing away the dirt and dust to get a better look. It didn’t help much so I used the water from the canteen and as I poured it, a wild shaking occurred all around me on the order of an earthquake but I was not afraid so it didn’t register like a disaster.

As the quaking got stronger I realized I was wasting water, as if that mattered but when I quit pouring the quaking stopped. Just then, above the petrified slant, a huge chasm opened both in the sky and ground. I felt a light suction and was drawn into that space. I quickly turned, when I finally stopped moving and saw the hole behind me close up like an iris. I looked around and realized I was no longer in the desert but the environment was similar. The sand looked pristine and there was no life or bugs or rocks of any kind. I started to walk and realized maybe I was in the center of the earth or time and then it hit me if I was in a “center” where ever I went there I would be, so I sat down.

Just as I sat, I felt a rumbling, different from the quake that got me here, it was low, deep and intense. I looked in the direction it came from and I saw a huge wall of Ice bearing down on my position. I looked in the opposite direction and saw a huge wall of Water a mile high also seeking to converge on my spot. I checked each direction and from the west a wall of Earth, mud, Wood and Metal racing toward me and to the east I saw Wind devils and Fire storms preparing to pounce with all force.

For a moment I felt a pang of fear and everything just stopped which was strangely unbearable so I silenced my fear using my secret mantra . Repeating to quiet the mind and breathing to calm the body, the 4 forces continued onward. The calm I felt was proportionately expressed in even greater speeds. In only a couple of seconds the forces will crash. A weird panic strangled me for recognition but I quelled it and the forces came faster. Then it hit.
I felt myself being ripped apart shred after shred, crushed by ice, trampled by earth, cut by metal, splintered by wood, scorched and singed by flame and washed away in crash and break. But I was still aware. And as I said that to myself I realized I was within the layers of life, an interior dimension of inclusive angular progression.

Then I was back holding the canteen stopping it from being wasted over the markings on the petrified slant. Now it was clear the markings read ‘Center Self’ but I began to blur and wake up re-orienting to the pillow then pen.
