The Day is Done

Topic: Lifepoems

The day is done,
Life is going on,
I still remember your name,
But I don’t remember your face,
I know what you said,
But I no longer believe it,
Like rings on fire,
The sun burns brightly,
The waxen moon still shines,
The day is done.

The day is done,
And the road keeps going,
I still remember yesterday,
But I don’t remember the date,
I know it came and went,
But I no longer believe it matters,
Like a garden sprinkler,
The rain pours at evening’s time,
The massive gray clouds still gather,
The day is done.

Nothing has changed,
But the trail has turned,
I still remember there is someone,
But I don’t remember if there is anyone,
I know that love may find me,
But I no longer believe its in you,
Like the telephone poles on high,
The trees break through the earth reaching for the sky,
The enchanting snow still melts,
The day is done.

I love the repeating lines, it helps the imagery so well. Good work, it is true, life goes on, day after day, and sometimes we can't remember exactly where we were, who we were with and what we were doing.

The day is done, life is going on.

I love that line.

Good work.

Very nice work! I especially like "Nothing has changed but the trail has turned." So true because tho we may feel stuck in one place because nothing has changed.. every step with each passing day..every decision we make is turning down another path.. very nice.. i enjoyed it!
