Skeptic

Contributed by Man_On_High on Tuesday, 31st October 2006 @ 01:58:59 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I am an inventor..
far less desreving than those
who have preceeded me;
a poet, moreover,
who has for himself,
discovered the key of words.

At present, a city-man
of a bleak land
under a sober sky
and I try to rouse my memory
of my beggar childhood,
my apprenticeship
of my arrival,
absent of any convivialities
while my level head keeps me from rising
to the stage of my comrades.

And I do not regret my portion
of divine gaiety
through airs, bitter and rancour.

My homefront and bleak countryside,
feeding vigorously, on my skepticism;
but since it cannot,
henceforth, be put to use,
[since that time],
I am dedicated to new torments:

"and expect to become a very viscious madman."

B

The title really encapsulates the meaning for me. You seemed to mesh a lifes worth of skepticism and came out with a resolution. I only hope that you don’t become a very viscious madman, but that you stay true to the course and fight back that which brings you doubt.

Nicely written as always

You, my dear friend, write some of the best poetry that I have ever had the privilege of reading. I certainly hope you don't turn into a viscious madman, although the way and habits of this world can turn a person against themselves. Well my dear friend I have a 1/4 of sanity left and I'm hanging on to it as best that I can, lol. Chucks! dearest Billy~ I have rambled on like a mad woman. One thing though before I go. Brilliant writings from a brilliant poet. Keep up the outstanding work my dear friend~
love from your devoted fan,
Sue M

my love .. I am not AT ALL surprised by the title nor the content ..

Brilliant surrender of thought sweets. But, there is not an earthly
chance in hell of you becoming a viscious anything! You are far
too sweet and forgiving. Your heart just will not allow such a travesty.

But, babe, you MUST understand, (even admist your humble
outcries of disbelief), that you have been blessed with a most
extraordinary and rare gift. One that, yes, is comparable to those
you feel less worthy than. You have not discovered the key to words ..
but have IN FACT, unlocked a treasury of insightful thought and
expression, coupled by a wealth of genius with which to convey it.
You, my dear most obliging poet, are one of the painfully few, who
can AT WILL, paint the most sagacious, intelligent, cerebral and
sometimes mysterious pictures!!

RELISH it, my love. And never stop sharing it.

It is, (you are) truly rare ..

all my heart forevermore ~

keep your eyes on the moon

Very befitting title Billy, and a wonderful sense of honesty spills through the lines as I read it. You tell just enough to leave the reader pondering, especially with that halting last line. Great work!
