summer danced away into the sunset
as fall came and the leaves turned delicate
i watch everything that was once beautiful die
and i begin to wonder where it was that i lost myself
and clarity slaps me in the face
It leaves a painful mark of regret
this path im walking doesn't suit me
this isn't who i want to be.
this downward spiral is tearing me apart
my new name begins and ends with shame
behind my eyes lie empty spaces
and memories of who i used to be.
and i slide down this wall once again
onto the floor, burying my head in my hands
i've been here too many times,
oh too many times i've left pieces of me behind.
and so a brand new season
will mark the changing of me
i'll shed my skin and start again
and bloom into something beautiful.

Excellent use of the seasons metaphor to describe internal change. Keep on trekking to that something beautiful. Use the fallen leaves that are pieces of you, pieces of shame fallen from the tree of your old self as fertilizer for your new beginning. Great write! |
