There is something about you
It makes me want to listen
I listen more than talk
Do you think it indifference?
It is not
It is me, shaking
Thinking what could happen
If I told you the truth
If it slipped out
I couldn’t let it slip
It almost happened once
I caught myself before I could
I brace myself
Barriers are thrown up
They are strong
I built them
If I could just say it
Just once
Never again would I need to
Unless you wanted me to
Do you want me to?
Have you ever said it?
I love you?
And really meant it?
I’ve never said it
But each time I never said it
I really meant it
The words run through my head
They have a voice of their own
It’s a beautiful voice
It is mine, but it sings
What about your’s?
In what voice of your’s are those words spoken?
Are they jagged, unpredictable?
Would that voice change?
If you tried it on me?
Why not try?
You may be surprised
