Angles and Riots

Contributed by xsitm on Sunday, 29th October 2006 @ 01:18:02 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

Upstairs a riot
Caused by last breath commotion
Let’s toast to the notion that you might have liked me
And for a brief moment
I was it for you

And then I let it slip
A notion that I’m only human
As I bled away my sins

Then I said goodbye to the angel
That wanted me for me
And I said hello to the devil
That wanted to watch me bleed

My friends
I find my friends
In every piece that I leave
Like vessels cast to sea
Taking back the loneliness
I drift like jagged teeth
Begging just to eat
I don’t even know
About anything or anyone

I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same
But honestly
I’m not even me

So I said goodbye to the angel
That wanted me for me
And said hello to the devil
That wanted to watch me bleed

Now take it all
I’ve learned another lesson
And tragic as it seems
It’s impertinent to me
That tomorrow will recall
A light that I might never recognize
Innocence that’s been capsized

And what scares me to death
Is that I’d still touch her
What scares me to death
Is I still love her
And more than anything
I hope she’s happy
Even if that’s not with me

So I said goodbye to the angel
That wanted me for me
And I said hello to the devil
That wanted to watch me bleed

And maybe someday you’ll understand
And help a friend, when a friend’s in need

wow, one of the most powerful poems i have ever read. i love the repeated part, flows really well. and the 'i bled away my sins' line, thats one of my favourite bits too. just everything about this is really great, sad but great nevertheless.
i hope that if this is based on truth that you find some way to help you through this that isn't cutting because although that helps it doesnt solve anything.
