Haunted Sleep

After another decision,
Your mind is finished;
Hoping to be punished,
Making the next incision.

Remember the lonely scream,
Your heart turned to stone.
Feeling all alone,
Playing for your own team.

Shells lay steaming;
Men stand and laugh,
Watching a blood bath;
Children die screaming.

Remembering that town,
Hearts grow colder.
At ease now soldier!
Stand down, Stand down!
