I won't let you do that to me
I wonder if you even know you are doing it
That is what scares me
To think that you don't know
I think of how to tell you
I’m not sure if I should tell you
To think of what could come of it
It makes me ill
To verify that you don't care
Would that be worse?
To live with hope or to die with truth
I don’t want to die
Hope should not die, and truth should not murder
But it will, and it can
I’m afraid it will, and I know it can
I wish it wouldn’t
But I wish even more that you knew it
My eyes give everything away
But you don’t look into them, do you?
I wish you would
See beyond the face into my mind
My eyes are the doorway
But you won’t even look at the door, will you?
Instead you look at the faces of others, mirrors
Everything just bounces off them
Ones who do not look into your eyes
Do you know they are doing that to you?
Don’t let them do that to you
You mean too much to me.

| nice write and it really gets you thinking as per the windows to the soul through the eyes which i like the way you put that across well done |

| Thanks everyone, the comments mean a lot. I have a sequel, "Who needs to Breathe?" Its a metaphor... some people have asked. (And yes, I did spell it wrong, and yes, I've been kicking myself.) |
