Second Place Victory

Contributed by Channing on Friday, 27th October 2006 @ 06:07:56 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

I pour my heart into her
Giving her all I’ve got
Yet it isn’t enough
To put me at the top

I hold her so tightly
To dry her tears
Yet it doesn’t
Completely comfort her

I speak loving words
Of truth telling lore
To show her how I feel
Yet she doesn’t completely believe

I do all I can
To give her the simple pleasure
Of being completely happy
However she holds the hint of sadness

For I’m not her greatest love
I’m merely the close second
Being defeated by her faith
Her love for God

There’s nothing I can do
To completely win her heart
So I wear my smile
And accept second place

-Channing-

I find this sad.Maybe it might not be so sad if you viewed your place as one different instead of,"second". Oops,I just read the title again...huh,interesting...

Good for you to accept second, and good for her to put God first! Amazing poem.
