The Rock Still Spins

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Friday, 27th October 2006 @ 04:07:24 AM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

I feel I've walked on the most
jagged knife edges
getting way too close.
Glare of sun on steel
blinds the eyes
Hides all the alibis
Haunting lullabies as well.

You approach me with
a questioning glance
you fell into my trance;
a woody aura.
Tangled in branched webs
hanging on to the
edge of the spinning bed...
did you hear me whisper
what I said?

Some things can not be spoken
in audible tones in rapid
recession. Speak into this
can. Strings attached from
me to you.
Can you walk the tightened cord
between
or will you fall in the
amber waves of grain?

Ah in the madness of the
spin, the scalp rises in awe.
Eyes transfixed once again
sucking thoughts through
narrowed tunnels of dirt
from which I am buried
deep within.

You smile.
We laugh
Hollow hallways echo
in freakish tones.
Dancing...
unaware of my distance
in this light and sound.
Breathing in your exhale
and the rock still spins,
around.

Laura,

This poem really intrigues me, although I'm not sure I fully understand it. I get a sense of two people trying to connect to each other, and trying to communicate. Yet there seem to be obstacles. Life is full of obstacles and distractions....yet close at the end..."Breathing in your exhale."

I may be way off on this one, my frieind

Will

Breathing of anothers breath has always struck me as one of the most intimate of exchanges.

To the mountains majesty of your piece as in great...
for within this seeming ambiguity here is a kernel of truth:

"Some things can not be spoken
in audible tones in rapid
recession..."

Few can even hear when it is
But as the rock spins we keep trying...

Peace
Yang

You know, I got much the same meaning from this as Will did. I agree with his comment most of all, I think, it truly does seem like a connection problem.

I like this. It's different and the rhyme sheme is nice to see. It's pretty original, and this poetry site sort of lacks originality at times.

Good write hun,
Phil xxx

Laura, I have to agree with Will & Phil on this one~ I feel as if it's like you're trying to connect with someone, but there are too many obstacles that stand between you. You have an amazing way of expressing yourself through your poetry. I so much enjoy reading your work. Always varied and well worth the read. Keep up the awesome work~
big warm huggers,
Sue M

Indeed, intriguing and very personal, but still plenty of amazing imagery and genuine feeling to connect the reader.

A very happy, reconciled piece, this one.
