The Void_Her Words

Contributed by europeanprincess on Wednesday, 25th October 2006 @ 02:37:05 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

The paper was plain with no fragrant smell
She glanced down before she began
‘Dear’ instead of ‘To’? She thought to herself
She waited a moment and cleared her throat

What can be said to a man that was never home?
How can she make him understand why she must go?

She sat down and cried as she jot down her words
She never thought it would hurt so
She shook with fear he would enter the room
She sighed with relief as she began once more

She opened the window in the room
Enjoyed the fresh air in this gloomy mood
She looked to her right and an image was seen
They were hugging and kissing on their third anniversary

She took a moment to wipe her tears
Remembering how he used to be
The jokes he told that made her laugh
The surprises she got –
Just because

She noticed a bottle on the floor
Probably from last night as he came home
‘A drink to ease my nerves’-she thought
No, that is not the answering she is looking for

She tries to finish her last paragraph
She writes ‘she could have given more’
She lifts her head and looks around
She notices the glass on the kitchen floor

The wedding picture she did break
She was upset and hurt-
What was she to do?

She sat back down and put the picture aside
She remembered his words on their wedding day
“You filled my void with your soul, love, and touch”
She repeated the words back to him
She was so overwhelmed with joy that day

She folds the letter and puts it on the table
She sighs and wishes this would have gone differently
She leaves no impression of returning
She opens the door with one last say

“Good-bye and I love you”
