Sleep Deprivation

Contributed by Chaos on Sunday, 16th February 2003 @ 05:20:00 AM in AEST
Topic: sarcasticpoetry

Don’t you hate it…
When you can’t sleep?
Even though your eyes are falling
Slowly crawling together…
But your mind,
Ah yes, that wonderful tool,
Won’t shut up?

I mean, seriously
Your eyes are drooping
You know you want to just close them and whisk away to nighttime bliss
But your mind makes them stay glued
And open, mind you
To the screen
Be it tv, or computer monitor
It won’t let you break away
You are held
Tighter than a super glue bond.

And that’s why I write this now.
My mind, the self-absorbed being it is,
Won’t let my fingers rest.
“Type! Type now! Type you incoherent slaves!
And you, eyes,
Dear eyes
Stay on that screen, I command thee!”
It’s a dictator, I tell you.

Think about it… your mind commands your body
Your body listens.
There is no rebellion
Or is there?
Maybe that’s why you get sick?
A rebellion against the evil dictator of the mind?

If it is it’s a pretty crappy way of resisting.
But if that’s all they can do,
All the power to them!
Just… don’t rebel when I have something important to do...
Okay? Thanks.
