Flatter me not in death with revisionist take~
Laud not my triumphs w/o mention of mistakes
Forget not my childhood first stolen then reclaimed~
Though disrespect it not by seeking for to blame
Because from out of the corners left in to cry~
Came the flights of fancy on which I learned to fly
So disregard not the worth such experience earns~
Or allow anger to rob you of understanding for yearned
For thats what I gained dining at the top of the,"Mark"~
Sleeping under a bridge, sharing my name with the dark
Knowing of love and hate, all their attendant woes~
Having the miracle of life within me grow...
So keep not my memory pretty and untainted~
But honor it with all the colors my life was from painted
Please flatter me not in death with revisionist take~
Just scatter me and tell my story by dancing in my wake....

That is beautiful. Anyone to have this read upon thier passing will be remembered rather as a human, not a God nor beast. This reflects you were, indeed, worth the lifetime. |

I just had the sudden urge to read this again, so I did. And I still love it the same as the first time you read it to me. Really touching in a human type way. It rings true, and nowhere near shallow.

A jig, a reel, a hip, a do it till ya drop, a sock hop, a twist, a shake, a line, a break, a swing and then some.
"Well there's nothing to lose
And there's nothing to prove
I'll be dancing with myself..."
Peace

What a wonderful poem to post first!
This piece speaks volumes about you. Of accpetance of things past, a joy in all of your life not just the good parts and a celebration of your wonderfully unquenchable spirit.
I hope you have many many years ahead of you before this poem is read.
Hugs,
Dom |
