All I Can Do

Contributed by gabby521 on Saturday, 21st October 2006 @ 10:07:42 PM in AEST
Topic: SecretLove

A hidden love is what I'm left with now
An admiration from afar
And we both know it all too well
That all we want is in eachother's arms

But it's a hurried glance and a stolen kiss
A wish for something more than this

A knowing that he'll ne're be mine
A pleading with the hands of time

To give me one more look from his eyes
As he quickly decidedly passes me by

Making his way back to her
And he whispers "I love you"
To be softly, secretly heard

And he says "you look beautiful"
Under his breath
And she waits as he makes his way there
And you watch their embrace
With what grace you have left
And you've no choice but to smile at her vindictive stare

And you meet in the middle of her eyes catching his
And it's all you can do just to grin
As she tells him "I love you", you know he'll say it back
As you're silently screaming within

You love him more
But there's no way to prove
And you're scared of the Hell that bids you try
And she calls you a whore
And it's all you can do
Not to be the one making her cry

So the distance you keep as they pretend they're in love
The next day will see him with you
There's nothing to say that will make this okay
And you're dying to know all it's truth

You're the one in the wrong
Though he wronged you first
But it's all coming down to your sins
So he tells her he loves her
And when next day she's gone
You know that he'll say it to you once again

You're taking all you can get so it seems
How else would we say that's it's right
When you loved him first but she took him away
You'll not say this is all out of spite

"you have the biggest right to be with me, love"
That's what he told you long ago
So you justify your actions on the basis of his words
She's just the one who'll have to let go

But he'll never give her reason to
As long he knows you're still there
To love him even when he's with her
And he knows, how he knows it's not fair

But you cannot give up on the chance it might work
'Cause there's always that hope in your heart
And you take all the tears and the guilt and the hurt
And you pray that they'll soon grow apart

You love him more
But there's no way to prove
And you're scared of the Hell that bids you try
And she calls you a whore
And it's all you can do
Not to be the one making her cry
