So I’m not the one he wanted
and “it’s better off this way” –
but it’s not your job to make things better,
to make sure that I’m okay.

I’m dangerously volatile
when I’m raw with pain.

So don’t say anything
If the words aren’t sincere
Pretty sunsets don’t fade heartaches-
Your presence doesn’t dry my tears

(I’m broken and don’t feel
Like I need to be fixed.)

Don’t say you love me
‘cause that’s just death with a kiss
You’re not the one I want
Trust me, it’s better off like this.
