froma cell to cells to sell

Contributed by lostrelic on Friday, 20th October 2006 @ 04:39:46 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

what is the way we all seem to please
this never beginning story with empty story leaves

epic amounts of anger and rage
following close in humanity steel cage
fists full of dollars and the will to make more
abusing the rules to get the bigger score

man made science copy of the sane
hiding the truth so we all don't know the pain
banging my ear the sound so empty to me
hearing the voices of regret that's soon to be

following with fingers in unlit halls
scraping the plaster off these faded walls
looking for new in this tarnished gleam
trying to hide from your american dream

from cells to the cell an image for all
trying to hold on as this amusement ride falls
to sell my soul for the respect of the masses
raising a cheer with empty glasses

cold dead and wrong an idea from the end
escaping my problems an easy quick send
throwing my thoughts out in humanity's shore
wading in muck from the blood of the war

lost and in child a position from birth
seeing my kingdom is this true worth
walking with shards embedded in time
sensing the end to society's crime

A lot in this one and I for I agree with you. It's scary to think what's the ideal nowadays.
I really like the rhyming pattern - it suits this piece and the use of words is very good - it's easy flowing...
Very good piece. I'm finding a few political poets on this site... maybe I should post some of my own (wasn't going to as I thought it wouldn't find an audience).

  • I'm pleasantly surprised you mentioned the "American Dream",
because I've never heard it used outside our classroom. :P

I also like the smooth flow as this,
as well as the powerful ending. ;)
