Days broken with the darkness in my mind. Care for nothing, only the hollow need of something else. Cross the path I left before, hope he doesn’t take me down.
Too many days wasted on his mental hold. Too many tears cried out loud. A ring to sacrifice my life. A kiss to seal the deal.
Blood rises the surface, I lost too mush in my insanity. Lost my dignity, lost it all for the fear there was nothing else at the end.
Picking up the bullets and staring down a barrel, nothing else to give but this life. When the world starts to fall and I’m trapped in this place.
Back on the linoleum, taken by him for a final time, I realize my wings are broken. Let it happen until it all goes dark.
Force it out, but stay there.
One last night to feel nothing.
One last cigarette before I leave it all behind.
Dead in my mind, cold, and still crying when I take the knife back. Cut until the tears stop, fall asleep bleeding again…
But then, that’s the past.
I came to say goodbye.
I’ve found myself again.
The pain crosses me as I think of what we used to have, but now I say goodbye to those times. My wings are broken and I still find myself stranded, but somehow, it’s not so bad.
One more chance.
Because that’s all I have.
