I remember little wooden trains
- I made at 8
and the tank transformer
- with hyper colour sticker
that I’d play with on Victorian V-lines
- as Melbourne slipped by
the 80’s, with its optimism
- and hopeless love songs
- big hair
- and bright colours
my word, what a time to be a child
with the world looking up
who could blame up now
expecting to take on the world
- and win!
Icehouse through the house
- as I played with Lego
Dad bought a boat
Dad sold a boat
it didn’t matter
- just a toy for us kids
and everyone always came over
- we’d celebrate anything
or I’d ride off with Ben
- the boy two houses down
to explore Morwell
- just a country town then
the original Ninja Turtles
- I had the lot
what a time
the 80’s
- travel, toys and endless smiles
who could blame us
for thinking we could ever win?

Well I was grown raising three kids alone in the 80's but I remember the 80's as some of the greatest times in my life.
I luv the 80's soft rock. The definently had some of the greatest music in the 80's.
Very good write and thanks for taking me back.
huggs, smiles,

The 80's....glad it has good memories for you. I graduated high school in 82 so the 80's was the beginning of my adulthood. I do remember lots of silly crap. (I had feathered bangs held so very damn tightly with Aqua-Net hairspray) LOL I look back and can't believe I ever took part in breaking down the ozone layer.....that Aqua Net was wicked stuff.....( I once killed a spider with it)
Fun write man, that brought back a few memories.
Peace, Laura |

The only thing I think was missing was a mention of the Thundercats.
Is it so wrong for a 10 year old to fancy Cheetarah?
Good write, matey. You've left me feeling all nostalgic (sigh!)

Everyone says i was born in the wrong decade...i'm an 80's girl tho its before my time!
"the 80’s, with its optimism
- and hopeless love songs
- big hair
- and bright colours"
my fav!!
optimism adn hopeless love songs....i guess that's me in a nutshell!!! hehe....i missed out....invent a time machine so i can go live the 80s!! and it may seem kinda sad..but i get most of the references!
80s had the best music, movies....and i guess poets need to be added to the list now too!
