After the Rain

Contributed by alison on Monday, 16th October 2006 @ 09:35:57 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

As I walk the sweetest song dose play,
The symphony of nature’s own soul,
As the wind blows gently and the rain falls carefully,
Walking alone enjoying the truth,
Silence surrounding,
Nothing but the sound of my heart beating still,
And the rain falling slowly,
Like the tick of the clock before works end,
As all those around me be entertained by a box or game,
And as the machines of man ceases to be heard,
The puddles at my feet and the drops of water on my face,
This is how I know I am alive,
In the quietness of pure tranquility,
I find my heart with me still,
The rain all captivating and complete in its destiny,
And I find my heart in eternal pain,
Hollow, dry like the desert sand,
Empty and alone,
Everything the rain seeks to change on the earth,
Yet it cannot dampen my skin enough to moisten my wasteland,
My heart now cries out,
“Who will walk with me?”
Of whom my I take their hand and show them what they have never seen,
Of whom shall leave their box and sport to experience the sound all around,
Or least I shall walk alone in the desert still dry after the rain.

Beautiful write - I can feel what it's like to be walking in the rain.
However, I don't think the world's dry within you - the sheer beauty in your writing proves that your mind is still fully alive!
Loved it!

- Tim

I like this one best so far! why? well maybe because i love the rain! Walking in the rain as everyone rushes by trying to keep their hair from getting wet.. i walk slowly..enjoying the coolness and the smell and ...you are right in saying it makes you feel alive...no desert in you but a desert around you with people so dead to the beauty of a rain shower or nature at all that it feels that way...not in you but around you. liked it a lot! thanks for sharing
