Mr. Solo in Coffee Shops

Contributed by one-curly-fry on Monday, 16th October 2006 @ 08:32:17 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

You’ll never find a love as pure
-as that in my heart
or words made so beautiful
- for your sake
or a boy made superman
- in your yellow sun
for I’d love you for your flaws
- and silly little quirks
things more likely to remain
- unstolen by time
and you’d be my world
- without being locked away
for, you’d be free baby
- as I am
one hand
- in hand
one smile
- made giggle
a love
- the type our heart intended
a thing still natural
- unshapen by media
and here I am
- Mr. Solo in coffee shops
smiling at my note book
- and the empty seat
because my own endless heart
- just found my mirror
and the first step of giving love
- is loving oneself
so here I am
- Mr. Solo in coffee shops
you’ll never find a love as pure
- as that in my heart.

yes can understand this one. If you don't love yourself or listen to what your heart says, how could you love anyone else. Well put may I say,and very true. Beautiful and thought provoking. Sue x

I like this very much. I've an undeniable affinity for coffee shops and notebooks and love and even, in an odd sort of way, solitude (though, I don't find it appealing as a permanent state, mind). The imagery here, then, is familiar... and to this reader, fabulously crystal clear. You set my mind to pondering with this... I'm left wondering if love is felt most fully in the absence of living it - even if that absence is temporary. That may seem a strange thing to suggest --- I suppose it's just the romantic in me harboring a thought that poets are often most successful in expressing their love when, absent an audience, they are left alone with pen and paper - and to pen it well, of course... a poet must mentally extract themselves from the everything-else in order to fully consider that which they intend to convey. How can one not help but feel more fully in such a situation, you know?

One minor critical note (which I do hope you don't mind too much)... I don't believe "unstolen" is, technically I mean, a 'real' word. I'm not overly bothered by that fact - as I myself have been known to 'create' words on occasion when it seems somehow right to do so. I point it out, really, just in case it was an unintentional 'creation'. In which case, I might suggest unchanged or untouched as viable alternatives if you should wish to employ one.

I am eager to read more of you. Your recent postings have set their hook in me and I have no doubt that I'll be reading more of you.

Your new fan,
~Snemmy
