R.I.P.
A Soldier’s Story
~
When I close my eyes I can see you,
And the crazy things we used to do.
Best of friends through our growing years,
Now those memories bring me to tears.
Upon graduation I went on to school,
But you were more of a military fool.
Afghanistan, Iraq, you saw it all,
On the streets of Baghdad you took the fall.
A husband, a father, a loving son,
Another soldier dead when the day was done.
You made the ultimate sacrifice for what you believed,
With the hope in the end that you were not deceived.
Braver than most, more willing to fight,
You proudly defended what you felt was right.
A better man than I, a wonderful friend,
You never gave up until the bitter end.
Rest in Peace O’ Soldier of War,
Rest with God on that beautiful shore.
