A Prayer

Blind me in deep waters of fear
Where passion abandons my soul
Heartache becomes the winner
Inside vacant lots of past and future
Today eyes sting with tears
Weakened by so much defeat
Crippled by imagined pain
Slighted by God’s fateful hand
Catch me when I fall
Catch me when I fall
Prayers have little power
Dreams fragmented by desires
Unfulfilled promises burst in midair
Here I stand with my back to the wall
Shivering again in the bright light
Rags bind the wounds left by love
My faith hanging below my knees
A ragged hem of shame
Catch me when I fall
Catch me when I fall

Merry, a lyrical, song-like quality to this sad piece. I hope its all just poetic licence.

"...Prayers have little power..."
I've had to learn this the hard way, but things (request, needs, interventions, etc.) don't happen according to our timing. It is all according to His timing. Our ways are not His, nor is our understanding. Most things reveal themselves full circle and a lot of times there is a lot of time before we do understand. Anyway, I enjoyed reading this. Thank you for sharing. |
