Sitting out on the old wooden pew
wondering how many others have sat here,
with this view.
The old pew from the Catholic church in town,
where all the folk 'round here attend.
Beautiful old church.
Small rural town.
I once frequented
that old church.
No more...
No matter...
Still love that church.
Stained glass windows catch my eyes
As we drive by.
Still have this old pew that
has been on this farm for probably
50 years or more.
My family folks adopted it when the
church had some remodeling.
Some nice pews with pads for kneeling,
installed.
Lovely indeed for the one with
"Arthur" in the knees.
Rustic old pew
Need to take off the old paint,
sand her smooth
maybe a little stain
to protect her from the elements.
Sitting on the front porch
gazing at the world
from the country view.
I sat here with Her
doing the same things
as probably those did before us.
Observing the yonder fields and
their developments....
The black-faced cows across the way,
changing tree colors each autumn.
Breezes that blow even the most troublesome
blues away.
On the old pew
where folks once
sat
lingered
and prayed.
Someone offered to buy it,
no way I'm sellin'
It's a good old bench.
On the farm....
it's here to stay.
Come and sit down with me....
We'll have a little chat
on the old church pew
in the country....
with a lovely view.

Such gorgeous imagery! loved every last word! The flow was wonderful, and you're right, it's not just a pew you'd be selling, it's almost a religion in itself! Brilliant Laura, as per usual,

DH .. I adore this and the imagery is stunning sis!!
I love old churches; wooden pews and the like .. no matter
what affiliation .. the old buildings have so much glorious
character and you are so lucky to have a part of that.
Beautiful write, my friend. The last stanza has filled
me with a longing, sis. : ) Especially at this time of year ..

Wonderful rendition of the significance that this old pew has for you. There is a very sentimental attachment; and perhaps some spiritual pain or unfinished business... "I once frequented that church...no more, no matter?"
Very good write, Laura
It felt like you were giving us a peak into a spiritual issue????
Take care my friend,

A very heartstirring, sentimental piece, Laura. I remember those catholic pews -they had an extra hardness to them, made you sit bolt upright, murder on the knees. I think the church of nature that it now overlooks is a more fitting location, and more beautiful, by the sounds of it.
