Children and War( Innocence taken)

Contributed by jerseysue on Sunday, 8th October 2006 @ 02:09:19 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

A child is but an innocent being,
The likes of war, they should not be seeing,
But see they do through eyes so wide,
What fear and pain do they have inside,

Their childhood marred by heartless wars,
Their innocence is being taken away,
As fighting is going on in streets,
Where once they happily played,

What goes on in their little minds,
Will it add to their sorry plight,
They may get the impression,
That it is good to go and fight,

Do we as humans really see,
The damage that war does make,
To little children caught within,
And the suffering that it creates,

These children have very little chance,
Of a childhood good and free,
Oppressed by hate and anger,
By the visions that they see,

So who is going to stop this,
Who is going to take the blame,
When we see the child with fearful eyes,
We should bow our heads in shame.

Sue, You are so right. When will it ever stop? I am so tired of seeing pictures, of horrible crimes against humanity, with these children with wide eyes watching. Makes me hug my children tight. I cry for the children and their parents who have to deal with this tragic mess on a daily damn basis. I sure wish we would "give peace a chance". Thanks for sharing an incredible write.
Peace and hugs, Laura

Amen to that! Your heart is so huge and full of love to write such a beautiful poem. Yes what about the children? I often ponder this questions.

My friend it's so tragic and sad when I read about the horrors of war and what they are doing to our innocent children. It's always the innocent children who suffer. Wouldn't be wonderful if everybody could live in peace and harmony? I still pray for that day my friend.
An excellent post dearest Sue~ Thanks for sharing it with us.
love, hugs n prayers from ur fan/friend,
Sue M
