Hoarfrost

Topic: InspirationalPoems

The fog around me swirls,
it dips and ducks,
thins and thickens.
In a world that seems
so still
the eddys of the
ground clouds
tell the secret movements.
Wet fingers dampen surfaces,
cold breaths freeze them,
leaving treacherous unseen
layers of ice in its wake.

I curse this fog.
This blanket obscurring my sight,
befuddling my senses,
sending chill shivers through me
as I work
to keep my foothing on the path.

The morning rises.
Before me stands a world
of total change,
total breathlessness,
total beauty.
Where once stood browns and greys,
devoid of life,
devoid of hope,
now stand glittering diamonds.
Frozen statues swathed in
white and jewels.
Nothing dares breathe
for fear of disturbing
Nature's masterpiece.

Everthing is still,
waiting,
hoping,
proudly displaying the pure beauty
seen fit to bestow upon it.

As the fogs of my life
descend upon me,
may I too have the wisdom
to be still.
To stop straining to see
what is shielded from me.
May I simply close my eyes,
and stand,
allowing the Universe to
work its unseen magic.
May I have faith
that the fog will lift.
Hope,
that in its wake,
it will leave
a world of clarity,
a feeling of peace and calm,
and a being of utter beauty.
