Negative Vs Positive

I have spent the past week completely lost in thought,
Negatives and positives have constantly fought.

Do we have a future? If so, where will we go?
The truth is, after all this time, I still don't know.

My mind keeps running wild with such contrasting thoughts,
You can't play with people's lives, this I have been taught.

I wonder why our situation is so complicated,
Would it have been this bad if we had actually dated?

Millions of questions are up in the air,
Answers are needed, this stress I can't bear.

I know every couple has their ups and downs,
But why must crying be such a familiar sound?

Must we work this hard to be happy?
Shouldn't it just come naturally?

I still hold so many things youv'e done against you,
But I can't help it even though i'm hurting you too.

Maybe if I expect the worst it will ease the disappointment?
Or maybe I should let go, be positive, this could be heaven sent..

Confusion.. I know-we all know-how that is...

"I know every couple has their ups and downs,
But why must crying be such a familiar sound?"
I really like these two lines - gets across great emotion.

I like the format of this poem- overall good write!
