I've said the wrong thing again.
It always happens,
After a drink
I didn't really mean it,
When I said perhaps things would be better,
Better if I hadn't met her,
Better if I'd gone home with her friend that night.
I certainly feel terrible now.
(There's a taste of metal in my mouth and I feel sick,
Though, admittedly, that might have something to do with the alcohol.)
I hope she comes back,
Tomorrow when she's calmed down and I'm sober.
I hope she knows that she's my world,
The very air that I breath.
After all, it was only the beer talking...

I can relate to this on such a deep level... my father used to have an alcohol problem and he often said things that he said he didn't mean, assuming he didn't forget them altogether. It was a heartbreaking time for me and my stepmother... thankfully, we've all moved past that. We all make mistakes in life, but it's the ability to forgive that keeps us going. If you forgive yourself, then chances are higher that the other person will forgive you.
Peace and Blessed Be. |

I've been there myself - too frequently admittedly.
I don't say anything to hurt anyone (got few ppl to hurt!) but I tend to get things mixed up and end up annoyed with myself!
I hope she knows how you really feels..
Good write!
