My Destination

As I stumbled down the narrow
Road towards my destination,
I looked behind me and saw that I had
Not traveled far because of my procrastination.
I started out on my voyage quite late
Due to my fear and temptation,
Not even to begin my journey
And move from my sad and present location.
As time passed and I continued along the road,
I realized that I was in deprivation,
For not only was I tired, but weak from
Physical, mental, and spiritual starvation.
As day turned to night
I lost my way and concentration,
So I fell to my knees and cried out
To God in agony and frustration.
The Master answered me at once
And said all you need is my sanctification,
And you can receive this easily
If you would just give me your dedication.
All you need to do my child
Is put to practice your memorization,
And place my holy word in your heart
From Genesis to Revelation.
I looked up toward the heavens and cried
Once more out of complete gratification,
For my creator had answered my prayer
And lifted me up, from my period of probation.
I brushed myself off and started back on my voyage
With fresh strength and motivation,
For I know one day I will reach my destination,
And find relaxation through salvation.

I really enjoyed the last 4 lines, felt they were the strongest in the piece. Concise but still painted a clear picture. |
