Meet Ellen,
New York Girl,
Look her down,
Blonde beautiful,
Skeletal splendour,
Tall temptress,
Legs flawless,
Maths, her calories counted,
Science, her makeup applied,
English, a dictionary of hearsay…
An educated woman,
She shouts out,
“Where’s the hairspray”
Her life’s depending on it.
The West’s perfect Woman?
Meet Zuwena,
Lady of Zanzibar,
Skeletal,
Bald,
Bruised Legs,
Maths, how many days without food,
English, illiterate,
Science, nowhere to be seen,
As she watches her child die,
An unfortunate Lady,
She cries out on deaf ears,
“Where’s the rain”
Her life’s depending on it,
Africa’s Problem,
The West’s Cruelty.
