Later

Contributed by one-curly-fry on Wednesday, 4th October 2006 @ 09:26:27 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

the fragile age
- Sweet 16
in that room
full of posters that mean nothing
the hand-me-down stereo
screaming the anger he feels
a new rage of hormones
a desk in a mess of wires
yet an order of electronics for him
- Sweet 16
the smell of solder
wooden desk top branded
some intentional
a 9V comes into play
unanimated becomes animated
his very own design
just as he planned
a door, the front door, opens
- just in time!
he rushes out
- Sweet 16
“Dad, check this out!”
the man in dull work clothes
a day with solder
- smells solder
“Later…” a grumble
no eye contact
a TV in the lounge room
on before the boy moves
- Sweet 16
made rock into life!
but later; always later
when tomorrow might be too late
with the stereo of anger
posters of nothing
and the endless later.

Isnt it sad that there are some people like that..so self absorbed? It cant always be sure right now...but should be majority of the time. Goes to show the stresses of workplace and teens is on the rise...makes u wonder.

I loved your poem

" Sweet 16
made rock into life!
but later; always later
when tomorrow might be too late
with the stereo of anger
posters of nothing
and the endless later."

Now you have me wondering and more conscious of what I do at home with mine..I dont think I do that but I'll be watching now. Thank you so much for putting into words so eloquently what is really happening .
