Good Advice ( Do I need it )

Contributed by jerseysue on Wednesday, 4th October 2006 @ 02:36:05 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

You tell me to get a life,
To make something of myself,
To go into the big wide world,
And don't sit upon the shelf,

Find a better job you say,
That pays a decent wage,
Open up to opportunities,
Don't stay locked within a cage,

Get a decent education,
Try to learn a new trade,
Get out of the doldrums,
Instead of being so staid,

Give up your old habits,
Make a new start , today,
Re-invent yourself why don't you,
For that is the only way.

My Answer

I have a life thank you,
Just me , just my self,
I don't need your advice,
I can only be myself,

My job it is just fine,
It gives me lots of friends,
It may not pay a lot,
But its a means to an end,

I am no stupid person,
I have an inquisitive mind,
I will never be a failure,
What I seek , I am sure to find,

Yes I may take up your advice,
On the last point that is true,
There is one thing that I don't need,
And my once good friend thats you,

This is a fantastic piece, I can’t stand those people who say you should do this or that with your life, those people are full of garbage only you can decide what is the right path for you. I see a lot of myself in this poem, I’m currently in a situation where people are trying to push me in different directions

good work!

Spencer

Yes, that is it. Just some good advise either you can take it or just leave it. If you are truly happy with the way your life is going and the decisions that you have made, then you have found peace and happiness in your heart. That I say my friend is what we all strive for in this life. So be happy and have a long life. Live your life to its fullest, Love with all heart unconditional and passionately, and Laugh with your heart and soul. You will have found peace and joy in your heart. Finally I really enjoyed the read, great job.

Hello sue! great write, reminded me of a little saying 'if i want your opinion, i'll beat it out of you'. I can't stand people that just dictate to others, when in reality it's themselves that should be following their advice; stay as you are, you're wicked!

2sdy x (:

Sue~ You rock my friend. Who ever is trying to tell you how to live ur life can go to hell.
You do what's good for you my dear friend. One can listen to anothers advice , but it doesn't mean that one has to take it. I hear ya loud and clear. The one to knock on the door is gonna get an answer. I liked this Sue~ you have expressed yourself so well. Way to go girl~ Take care.
love n hugs,
sue m

Oh Sue Beautifully said...Sounds remenisant of something...
I felt saddness while reading the first part of this smoothly flowing poem... Then when I got to the end it brought an evil smile to myself... :D

Thank You Sue

Right on, Sue. It was to the point, but in no way unpleasant. I hope your friend gets the message. Be who you love and want to be, not what someone else wants. Great write with a little bite. *smiles*
Peace, Laura

A master work you have here not only in your talent of words but the wisdom within them as well. Yes seems to always be someone trying to advise, once you look closer at their life it is them who should be taking there own advice! Tell em to go to hell! LOL
