with an affirmation that by the summit of the 'right of everyone to have access to safe and nutritious food'. The United States insisted that it does not recognise a 'right to food'.
From "Why Do People Hate America" by Z Sardar and MW Davies (ISBN 1 84046 383 X)
Guess what the U.S. and Iraq have in common? They are both the only two countries that have still not ratified the 1989 landmark UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. I think perhaps they deserve each other...
We are the fat beggars of the world
We sit and watch as children die
We stop their governments
from being free
We restrict their plans
and force our own
It should really make us groan
We vote against the right to eat
We vote each time to defeat
The poor and hungry
The ill and weak
If there’s a way
We’ll take their resources
And make THEM pay
We are the fat beggars of the world
Do you like to see them weep
Each man, woman, boy and girl
As you eat your evening meal
Just try to imagine, think and feel
Your government is so corrupt
They exploit these people
They put them down
They say to eat is no human right
Nor education, work or health
The U.S. would rather sit and stare
It gets in the way of wealth
We want their resources
We don’t want to share
This world is ours
What we say goes
We feed the fat and ugly pigs
And it shows, it shows, it shows
We are the fat beggars of the world
Over all you skinny boys and girls
We will need ever more and more
No angel above will count the score
For us to have you must surely lose
That’s just tough you have no shoes
What’s important is I get the vote
Of all the fat cats in my land
They mean more to me than any
wasted outstretched hand
You must just give and give and give
It’s not important to me you live
We are the fat beggars of the world
We must get fatter without any limit
We are the fat beggars of the world
Your deathshead means you grin it
There is no time to give a share
To do that we’d have to care
Those with much must get more
Though we’re sick right to our core
We politicians have our people snowed
They think we are doing good
We sit and smile and tell more lies
They are too stupid to realise
The selfish gene must have its way
To death and war and obscenity

I liked this. Yes it is true that theUS has a lot to answer for that breeds hate throughout the world. It does however have a lot to be proud of. But like so many others I do not believe that the US is as moral as its leaders like to think. Here in England the anti US feeling is at a level I dont think many have experienced before. Some of it may be justified but as my grandparents say where would europe be now if it wasnt for our friends the US. Yes it is true that one of the fundamental reasons that the US has brought on to itself is its record on human rights and obsession with self interest. Good write. |

I take your point Ed. Though if it hadn't been for Pearl harbour getting the US involved because of their own vital interests I think they would have let Britain go down in WWII. They were showing no great signs of wanting to be involved before then. Thanks for the comments... :D |
