The Past Hunger

Contributed by Cupid on Sunday, 1st October 2006 @ 07:19:16 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

How I hunger for the past…
To go back to the time where
Nothing needed to be done but stuff of my own accord, would be
Living bliss all over again.
But now, NOW, I have too much to do.
It is that time of year again.
That notch on the wheel that I can’t shake off.
I cannot use denial to make time run backward.
Nor can I face the truth of time as it runs onward.
All I have left to do is live in the present moment.
I must seek out others for advice…
Family, friends, the Creators…
I must also ask forgiveness
For the things I’ve done that
Can’t be hidden.
Yes, I AM guilty of:
Gluttony,
Anger,
And
Jealousy.
And have been for quite some time.
When will the tunes in my head recede
To my subconscious then eventually fade away altogether?
Soon?
Or never? (Lord and Lady, I hope not.)
Well, if I am never to know,
There must be a reason.
Hungering for the past will not help me in the future.
Especially the near future.
If I can’t shake it off now,
Perhaps the vicious dog of the past will stop
Nipping at my heels and cower away,
Tail tucked between its hind legs.
The only way for me to be sure is to focus on my current task,
And stop letting my mind go out all alone. (It might get kid-napped.)
Other than that, all I can do
Is hope that time and fate will be on my side.
All I can do
Is hope for the best.

Excellent wording here, and a great subject to delve into. I really like this line:

"The only way for me to be sure is to focus on my current task,
And stop letting my mind go out all alone. (It might get kid-napped)."

Hmmm I can relate. Your last line nailed it:

"All I can do
Is hope for the best"

Thick-truths written there....thanks for sharing.
Peace, Laura
