He Reminds Her of Him

Contributed by Chamaron on Saturday, 30th September 2006 @ 12:01:31 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

She grew up, she tried to forget, she buried it far within
And hoped to never see it or him again.
Quite accomplished now, got a lover and a career,
Just every now and then she remembers
How much she didn’t want to be here.

Baby girls almost all grown up,
Tries to advise and help lead them through their lives
Just as much as she can without becoming that man
That took over her life and left scars within
From when she tried to claw her way out,
But is there an escape, this time? Can she escape now?
Just as she did then, she cries herself to sleep again.

Just the other day, she slipped a detail of her past
Into an awkward conversation. How long did that moment last?
Did they notice the panic in her eyes?
Could they tell that it was the truth, apart from all her lies?
Only they know now, and keep it Mommy’s little secret.
Meanwhile her lover, her only one, wonders what he’s done wrong.
She becomes quiet and subdued,
And without her, he hardly knows how much he’ll lose.

And just in time to save the world from tragedy,
Comes a savior in a bundle of blankets.
As she holds him, she looks deep into his eyes.
He looks just like him and she hates it;
There’s nothing more that she could despise.

I like this poem.
There is alot of controversy.
The last part -
"And just in time to save the world from tragedy,
Comes a savior in a bundle of blankets.
As she holds him, she looks deep into his eyes.
He looks just like him and she hates it;
There’s nothing more that she could despise."
Very well done.
The past seems to haunt a good part of humanity.
That's why everyone goes into the field of psychiatry.
Stay strong.
