Italy :(

Topic: SadPoetry

Italia, Italia
So beautiful you are
How I long to see you.
But the distance is so far.

Italia, Italia
I want to make you mine
With your cibo delizioso
And your vino, o so fine!

I used to wake in the morning,
Sunlight filled the room
Not one cloud was in the sky,
Not one day had dark or gloom.

And to hear uccelli singing
The whole entire day
So happy in their Bel Paese
I thought I had it made.

And your people seem so friendly!
So warm and so very kind.
And they spoke so that I'd understand.
They'd act like friends of mine!

Now here I am...yet again...
It seems to rain everyday in this place.
It's gloomy and gray and ugly.
I can't keep a smile for very long on my face.

I can't believe I left you.
You've so much history,
So much to see, and do, and learn.
My mind's a mystery............

And although I've found a partner.
He'd die if he knew how I thought.
Unfortunately, he loves staying in this country.
Even more unfortunate, I do not.

A poem about Italy, a country. Good use of foreign words and such. Authentic. Keep up the strong work for.

I sometimes think about the Gippsland a bit like that. In the same country (Aust.), but very different to Adelaide... I miss the country towns and fertile land... It was so quiet and peaceful...
Your poem makes me want to visit Italy at some point in my life! Maybe you can take your man on a holiday there? He couldn't say no to that could he?
Another good write!

- Tim
