Walking down the hall
Way too young to see
What's going on in Mama's room
What could it possibly be?
The smoke rolls out the door
Clouding up our house
The smell of alcohol and another man
I tip-toe, quiet as a mouse
I begin to cough wildly
As soon as I reach the door
Mama's too high to notice,
Sprawled out on the floor
"Can't you be my mommy for once?
I shouldn't have to be
The one who holds the place together
Cleaning up after you and caring for your baby."
Mommy, I'm only seven
Take care of me!

You have written this very well. It is sad to know that this is happening. May the angels watch over you and protect you from harm.

Yep, the parentified child, the dependent parent -and so the toxic co-dependency blooms, while another dream sours. You caught the situation well.

oh my dear dear child...........you are the biggest regret of addiction.i know because i have 2 children..........i cant speak for your mom but i can tell you this..........no matter how high i was i never lost site of my love for my children, although my actions did not show it......and know that this is a disease of the mind and that nothing and i mean nithing you have done has lead your mom to her self destruction...never feel responsible |
