I would have had a crush on you
And had butterflies in my stomach
I would have hoped to see you every day
And hoped that you'd talk to me
I would have blushed at the sound of your name
And been startled if our eyes met
Too startled to say anything
I would have wanted you to notice me
I would have felt a little pain if you didn't
I feel a little pain since you don't
But you are where you belong
and I am too far past that place to meet you
I should want you to grow
and learn
and live
and come by love
Rather than covet you
But I know you would have given me butterflies
And sometimes now, you do
