One day it was beautiful…
My life was set and full…
The wind of fortune was blowing the right way…
Nothing foreseen to what would happen today…
The skies were full of clouds and pigeons…
Thing would work with no actions…
The traffic noise was so dense…
The commotion was so intense…
Dogs were barking and kids were playing…
In the air, pollution was stifling…
Loud music was on and people talking…
Now it is so quiet while I’m walking…
There now is no one around…
There is nothing making a sound…
No barking dogs no playing kids…
No pollution burning my eyelids…
The loud music is gone…
Something has gone wrong…
The pigeons are no where to be seen…
It’s not exactly how it has been…
My car won’t start…
I feel a pounding in my heart…
I fear for my life…
My kid’s and my wife…
I need to find them, right here, right now…
My cell doesn’t work. I need them but how…
I run all the way home… cars jam the street…
I got home and ran in, I felt a pain in my feet…
When did the world stop turning…
My fear in my heart was seriously burning…
Where are my neighbors and my family…
If not for the fear this would make me angry…
I ran down the road I jogged thru the yards…
I sprinted through peoples houses with no regards…
I think the world has vanished from my sight…
Is there anyone here to help me with my plight…
I hear the town’s bell ring its toll…
I felt hurt down in my soul…
The bell got louder and pounded my head…
I thought for sure my family was dead…
It was just then… when the last bell tolled…
I could her my wife. I needed to hold…
I blinked my eyes and rubbed them hard…
It was her leaning over me, herself unscarred…
I was in my room and sweating in my bed…
All this, that happened was in my head….
It was all a dream…

Good write, man. Had me clinging tightly to each word. Dreams can be sooooooo realistic, sometimes too much so.
Thanks for sharing.

Masterfully captivating, Bill! Ya set it up so well in the great title and intro, crescendoed to an anticipated devastating ending then brought us down (or up) gently. Good work!
