Grey

Contributed by Winterland on Sunday, 24th September 2006 @ 11:26:34 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

A single strand of hair
is boldly seen
within the forest of browns.
It is the one tree standing
leafless, stark and grey
against the neighbouring
plumage of life.
It is the ominous herald
of a new age,
of something changing,
something new to come.
In time it will become
a clump, a patch, a forest
all of its own making.
Within the likeness,
the herald will be
lost in the sameness but,
the others will still know
who Grandmother Willow was
and is.

It is but a single strand of hair.

I smiled as I enjoyed this excellent write that just pulled me out of a rather dark mood. Thanks, Jennifer! Beautiful work.
I got me a virtual rainforest overgrowth of those "single strands"!

Nice....

I have a bunch myself and enjoyed the last line...
I have been feeling quite old of late and the that line made me smile...

"It is but a single strand of hair" :)

Thank You

Bill

Great write! I love challenging myself to different styles and topics to write. I have not written in a while, but you have inspired me to try again. Thank you for sharing.
