Beneath the Cloak

Contributed by jerseysue on Thursday, 21st September 2006 @ 03:25:01 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I hide beneath my cloak so black,
In safety, for confidence I do lack,
No one can hear my muffled cries,
As tears fall from my swollen eyes,

My mind is filled with much regret,
For the real world I cannot face,
Pale and wan I have become,
And of a smile there is no trace,

My body is in turmoil now,
In a feotal position it lies,
No arms to hold me close at night,
All emotion here has died,

Sleep it has no comfort,
For the nightmares come to me,
Is this to be my penance,
Is it it how it has to be,

So beneath the cloak I will remain,
Till my soul is once again free,
Hidden away, is how I will stay,
Its the price I pay for being ME.
