Life’s for the Living

Contributed by one-curly-fry on Thursday, 21st September 2006 @ 03:46:19 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

The boy is fighting
for a life that’s great
because life’s for the living
not to lose your soul to job
or failed love
no
life’s for the living
and if you want to live
this boy could take you away
until you can laugh no more
or love nothing so purely
as life
because life’s for the living
not these guys in their black suits
who go out on the weekend
wired up
chems will bring them down just as bad
just as hard
as the job will
- people are but cogs
chewed and spit out
and the boy
alive
gives away free tickets
to be swept away
with him
and laugh
until you can laugh no more
and love nothing so purely
as life itself
because life’s for the living.

Wonderful job on the write. It's good to be reminded that life is more than a paycheck and a couple days off a week. It seems so easy to forget.
