Is he home yet?
Is he home yet?
Love for Master, always true
Yes I buried the other shoe, but
Only because I was missing you
I know, I know I can’t stop barking,
But you’re my leader, I’m so proud
I herald your arrival to
The waiting crowd
My tail wagging so much
There’s a breeze
But you are so hard to please…….
He’s at the door, at the door
I love him so much, hear him roar!
Everybody jumps
Tail now between legs, head down,
Belly open to his claw
Hear him now, the door, the DOOR!

i really didn't think it was possible to write an engaging poem about....pets. you proved me wrong. i loved this one. the funny thing was there was something about the way it was written, the energy of the poem itself that made it clear that a dog is speaking..very interesting.

Spike ... I've two of them in the zoo I call home. I recall when then elder would do and act just exactly like that ... 13 years will definately affect their demeanor ... but it has never affected his love. The younger on the other hand ... she just looks up with these big brown eyes that say ..." it's ok, I know you really didn't mean it ... right ?" while I struggle to push her off of the bed I just hollered at her to get off of. Ya got no choice ... ya gotta love 'em. I saw both my dogs in here and loved every word.

Dearest Spike you are by far one of my favourite writers. I thoroughly enjoyed this particular piece of yours for it reminded of when I was a little girl. I had a little fox terrier, even though he was a little devil sometimes, he was so playful and I loved him so much. Brought back memories. Thanks so much for posting it. Take care my friend.
love, hugs n prayers from ur fan,
Sue M |
