The Chimes of Time

Contributed by alison on Monday, 18th September 2006 @ 06:47:59 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

The chimes of time are ringing,
The chimes of time are ever whistling,
Through our ears and through our hearts,
They sing out of the uncatchable time we call ours,
They whisper of the fleeting dream we call life,
They clag together a warning of the constantly changing time,
They kiss each other gently, for like us only a moment they meet,
Their song is unmistakable yet so quickly unheard,
Their message is one of the passing time,
Soon forgotten or put off until tomorrow,
Yet the chimes breathe out “Shall there be a tomorrow?”
The chimes of time are breezing together flowing through,
Like us they sing one moment than are silent the next,
Shall we then heed the message of such a small slivery wonder?
Or shall we wait for another day?
As the chimes sing no more.

Another nice one, and a fitting style to the subject. The, almost musical flow of it suits the thought of chimes ringing.
For me, the musical edge was probably embellished slightly by listening to America's "A horse with no name", but it's no doubt there.
And, as mentioned, it's one that makes you think. People tend to hold off a little too often..
