We smile and wave.
We chat and laugh.
We act like things
Are just how they
Used to be.
We talk casually.
We hang out
Like the old buddies
We used to be.
We laugh like good times.
We reminisce.
We think together
And share those thoughts.
We argue constantly,
Like brother and sister.
We laugh about the
Good old days
To hide our pain.
We play this game
To hide the hurt.
We play this game
Of make believe.
He pretends,
So I pretend.
As long as we
Play by the rules
The game goes on.
And we continue living
In this fake land
Of make believe.
